An old village, small and
peaceful, located in the
Upper Empordà,
Guarriguella is known for
its vineyards and olive-
groves. It can boast
traditions, art, beautiful
landscapes and local
festivals. In April we
celebrate doughnuts
–and- Grenache Day, in
August Saint Bernard’s
Day, and in December
Saint Eulalia’s Day...

This is undoubtedly the
most original area of
Catalonia.
Its main town is Figueres,
cosmopolitan city with a
varied cultural history. It
is called home by many
artists.
It combines seaside and
mountains, high-activity
centres and peaceful
spots.

This famous coastline
inspires both admiration
and awe. It boasts both
big and famous resorts as
well as unspoiled sites,
such as natural parks of
Cap de Creus and
Aiguamolls.
Closer to Garriguella,
some places are well
worth a visit : Llançà, Port
de La Selva, Sant Pere de
Roda, Cadaqués, Roses,
L’Escala, Empúries,
Medes Islands, Peralada,
Castelló D’Empùries...

There are not many
places in the world where
you can go walking or
skiing in the mountains in
the morning, and swim or
go fishing or sailing in the
afternoon, all in the same
day.
The Canigó or La Molina
winter resort can be
reached within less than
two hours.
Even closer is the Alberes
natural park where the
Pyrenees stretch down
into the sea.
In Garriguella itself, you
can visit the Tortoise
Breeding Centre.

Figueres is the most
surrealist city of the
Mediterranean. Salvador
Dali was born there and
he set up the Dali
Theatre Museum.
A few miles away, you
can also visit his
residence and studio at
Portlligat.
On your way you will
discover some of the
landscapes painted by
this self-proclaimed
genial divine artist.
